Impartiality is a fundamental principle of ARL Middle East certification activities. ARL maintains documented controls to identify, analyse, evaluate, treat, monitor and document threats to impartiality and conflicts of interest.
ARL Middle East shall not allow commercial, financial or other pressures to compromise impartiality.
ARL maintains documented controls for impartiality risks and conflicts of interest associated with conformity assessment activities.

Threats are identified on an ongoing basis, including threats arising from ownership, governance, management, personnel, shared resources, finances, contracts, marketing, commissions and other relationships.
The management system considers threats including self-interest, self-review, familiarity or excessive trust, and intimidation.
ARL Middle East does not provide management-system consultancy and does not provide internal management-system audits where such activity would create an impartiality threat.
Personnel and subcontractors who may influence conformity assessment activities are required to disclose relevant current or past relationships and potential conflicts of interest.
Where previous consultancy, employment or other relationships could create an unacceptable threat, personnel are not assigned to the relevant certification activities or decisions.
Where a threat is identified, ARL documents how the threat is eliminated or minimized and records residual risk. The Impartiality Committee provides a governance mechanism for reviewing matters affecting impartiality.
Personnel, committees and external persons who could influence certification activities are expected to act impartially. Complaints and appeals are handled through controlled processes.
Identify potential sources of impartiality threats and conflicts of interest.
Assess risks and apply appropriate controls to eliminate or minimize them.
Monitor risks, controls and outcomes and document relevant decisions.
